ELSPETH ATTWOOLL MEP APPROVES LISBON TREATY

Commenting after today's vote in the European Parliament, in which the Lisbon Treaty was approved by a clear majority (525 votes to 115), Elspeth Attwooll, LibDem MEP for Scotland, said:

"Resident dissenters aside, the European Parliament has voted to approve a treaty which will undoubtedly enhance the operation of the EU-system and make its institutions more democratic. It's now crucial that citizens are reliably informed of its aims and content".
